If I could nominate the Oscars myself

BEST PICTURE
Avatar
i'm not going to be one of those, indie- obssessed people who rebel against Avatar for being "mainstream" it was still exceptional in very many ways.

Fantastic Mr. Fox
This in my opinon was the BEST FILM OF THE YEAR. The Academy gave in and nominated Up, an animated film. If Up was eligable, Mr. Fox should've been in, in a hearbeat.

The Hurt Locker
A War Drama, that we needed to see. It SHOULD win over Avatar this year. Just because a good story to me is vital in film. Refer to my upcoming article The Hurt Locker vs. Avatar.

Ink
If you know what this movie is, i'm your new best friend. A TRUE independent film, that labels itself a masterpiece, it definately deserves more attention. And is one of the best of 2009.

Moon
Seriously, the academy denied this films existence. Especially Rockwells fantastic performance (touch on that later) Duncan Jones made an exceptional space-caper sense 2001. Amazing.

The Road
Whenever I hear this film talked about the first word I hear is "snubbed" because it truly was, a very powerful film. One of the best apocalyptic films ever made.

A Serious Man
So glad it got recognition from the academy, but barely. A Serious Man is phenominal.

Up
Deserved. People see it as "oh its nice that Up was nomianted" it should be one of the contenders for the winner now. Because despite its MAJOR FUCKING FLAW (its animated). Its still one of the best films of the yea

Watchmen
Surprised? Don't be. It came out earlier this year, but it was really well developed. You go in expecting a typical superhero movie and receive a comic-poetic original film.

Where the Wild Things Are
I am so pissed that this didn't get nominated for anything...really it got nothing.... it practically sweeps my Oscar. I always knew a lot of movie goers were unknowledgable in understanding Where the Wild Things Are...I thought the Academy would be smarter....I was wrong.

Picking 10 best films nominees, is hard, I give that to the academy. But seriously The Blind Side over some of these movies is straight up bullshit.I may get yelled at for not agreeing with the academy on Inglourious Basterds and Up in the Air. Which were both exceptional movies...however they both didn't have the same emotional impact to me, the cinematic value in these films was absolutely enticing.

BEST ACTOR
Sharlto Copley, District 9
Ben Foster, The Messenger
Viggo Mortensen, The Road
Sam Rockwell, Moon
Christopher Solen Kelly, Ink

Copley was completely snubbed, thats obvious. Along with Mortensen and Rockwell. I almost wrote a letter to the academy complaining that Rockwell didn't get nominated.. I didn't nominate anyone they did, because I found 5 actors who were MUCH MUCH better. Bridges, Clooney, Renner... they aren't exactly touching territory they haven't touched yet. We've seen this in them before. These 5 did exceptional.

BEST ACTRESS
Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side
Sariose Ronan, The Lovely Bones
Zoe Saldana, Avatar
Gabourey Sidibe, Precious
Meryl Streep, It’s Complicated

I give in! Bullock for The Blind Side, i'm not going to sit back and say she doesn't deserve the nominee, she does. The Blind Side was a horrible film though. As far as Streep i'd rather nomiante her for It's Complicated primarily because the film was better. Sidibe is back for a rightfully deserved nominee, she'd be in my front-running though. Ronan was snubbed. As far as Saldana goes, she played a role no one has ever played before, she had no inspiration and she pulled it off. She may have been CGI'd up but she was still acting goddammit.

SUPPORTING ACTOR
Robert Duvall, The Road
Jackie Earle Haley, Watchmen
Woody Harrelson, The Messenger
Anthony Mackie, The Hurt Locker
Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds

Harrelson and Waltz deserved there nominees. Harrelson crying seen in The Messenger is so impressive its ridiculous. Waltz is the perfect villan. Lets focus on the other 3. Duvall in The Road...Oh My God he is old but he can fucking act! He was in there very brief but you are impressed the whole time. Mackie was snubbed he was the best actor in The Hurt Locker no doubt. Haley as Rorschach was completely ignored. But take a second to think about that performance then you'll see where im coming from...especially the scene before his death.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Vera Farmiga, Up in the Air
Anna Kendrick, Up in the Air
Melanie Laurent, Inglourious Basterds
Natalie Portman, Brothers
Mo’Nique, Precious

Mo'Nique's got it still... just see Precious...i'm telling you. Kendrick and Farmiga are back for there rightfully deserved nods. Laurents scene in Basterds where she is on the film laughing "Stare into the eyes of the Jew who killed You" shes so dark in it its amazing. Portman was overshadowed by Maguires excellent just-missing-nominee performance but watch Brothers again and pay attention to her.

DIRECTOR
Wes Anderson, Fantastic Mr. Fox
Kathyrn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker
James Cameron, Avatar
Spike Jonze, Where the Wild Things Are
Jamin Winans, Ink

GIVE WES ANDERSON A DIRECTOR NOMINEE. Someone who is that dedicated in all the time he spent with Mr. Fox deserves a director nominee. Cameron and Bigelow are back, because the kind of films they directed took an immense amount of work. Jonze has a feel like no other in Wild Things he needed that recognition. And newcommer (hasnt came yet) Winans beautiful artsy storytelling in Ink deserves a look at.

ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Ink
A Serious Man
Up

Screenplay is a lot like the story... Ink was very thoughtful and different along with A Serious Man. Up jsut had a tear jerking heart warming story. Along with already nominees Inglourious Basterds and Hurt Locker.

ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Lovely Bones
The Road
Up in the Air
Where the Wild Things Are

Wes Anderson and Spike Jonze took simple kid books and made worlds, beautiful worlds around these storys that were emotional and heart warming. The Lovely Bones and The road's authors must be proud of what there novels were turned into. Kirn already knows Reitman did great with Up in the Air because it will win the Oscar.
